Opening

The regular meeting of the AMERICAN LEGION POST 1919 at 1911 hrs.  13 May 2025 by 1^st Vice Commander Gary Totty.

Motion to approve by Michael Roderick, Second by Doree Boger.

The minutes of the previous meeting unanimously approved as distributed.

Membership Committee

83.2% of 2025 (173 of 208) Goal, as of 13 May 2025.

Reminder emails will be going out next week to alert passed due membership.

Dues have increased to $55. The 10-year option is still available. It is a Department program and the cost is $400 for 2025. This is still your best option. If you are a 10-year member, you will still get a renewal note from National. You are paid up, just see membership chair with questions/concerns. National has a 3-year program at $55 each, $165 total. Membership year begins 01 July 2025. Renewal notices will be coming soon.

Two members under the age of eighteen (18) are up for election to be officers for 2025 – 2026 year. Elections 22 May 2025.

• Meetings will be the first Saturday of month at 1100 Hours.
• Upcoming Events.
  • Movie Night: Thursday, Hrs in Day Room.
    • Pacific to be shown in May.
  • Six-Week Comedy Boot camp: Graduation held Sunday, 4 May 2025.
    • Thirty-four (34) people attended.
  • D-Day Anniversary, Movie will be ‘The Longest Day’, 06 June 2025.
  • ASAP will have an ‘Open Mic’ Comedy night Saturday, 14 June 2025, 1700 Hrs.
  • Army Birthday and Flag Day, 14 June 2025.
  • Freedom Fest, 28 June 2025.

 

Flag Committee

• Will reach out to area Goodwill stores to see if can get their donated flags.
• Help with cleaning and replacing area business flags.
• American Legion Flag and Emblem has a ‘Flag Rewards’ program in which we can received credit for each flag ordered with our post 1919 listed on the form.

  • Franklin will have a booth at the Johnson County Fair and has invited us to help run and manage the booth, 19-23 July 2025.
